CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF AKWA IBOM ARISE AGENDA – AKS HCS  Informs Federal Civil Servants

ARISE Agenda, the development blue print of the Governor Umo Eno-led administration of Akwa  Ibom State provides for the training and retraining of the state workforce.

The Head of Akwa  Ibom State Civil Service, Elder Effiong  Essien, informed the participants while declaring open the 2023 edition of the  annual workshop on Planning and Budgeting Workshop organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation for Directors and  Heads of federal tertiary institutions holding at the Ibom Hall, IBB Avenue, Uyo, Akwa  Ibom State.

The Head of the State Civil Service explained that government recognizes that civil servants are invaluable personnel in the day to day running of the public service and needs periodic retooling to keep them in tune current reforms  and policies in public sector governance.

Elder Essien therefore commended the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade   Mejabi Yemi, for organizing the training and for bringing it to Akwa Ibom State. He welcomed and wished all the participants fruitful deliberation.

In her speech, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Mejabi Yemi, informed that, the annual event is organized for Directorate Officers, Desk Officers in charge of Establishment Matters, Registrars and Bursars of federal universities, Polytechnics  and colleges of education.

She explained that the workshop series started in 2021 and has since been serving as and avenue for preparing Ministries,  Extra – Ministerial Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to undertake annual Workforce Budget exercise.

Represented by  the Permanent Secretary in her office, Mr. Olufemi M. Oloruntola, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation maintained that the overall objective of the workshop is to ensure that MDAs follow proper procedures and techniques in preparing, submitting and defending their yearly Workforce Budget proposal at the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

She noted that the training was necessary as it  sustains, improved and served as a means of improving the capacities of the personnel for effective and optimal manpower budgetting.

Goodwill messages were received from the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Prof. Leo Daniel, the Chief Medical Director, University of Uyo Teaching hospital, Dr. Emem Bassey and others.

The participants had earlier paid a courtesy call to the Head of Akwa Ibom State Civil Service in his Office.

The Training with the theme: Workforce planning and Budgeting Tool for Productivity Management in the Public Service ends on Thursday,10th August, 2023.
