The member representing Nsit Ubium state constituency and deputy leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob, says the creation of additional state constituencies to add to the existing 26 state constituencies would enhance growth and development in the grassroots.
Bob made this known during a chat with newsmen, on Tuesday, shortly after the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly moved a motion for the creation of additional state constituencies, sponsored by the member representing Ikono State Constituency, Rt. Hon Asuquo Nana Udo.
He noted that additional constituencies would create more synergy and development to the communities that were hitherto merged with other constituencies.
While making his contributions at plenary, Barr Bob urged the Akwa Ibom State Caucus in the National Assembly to take up the matter, as it concerns the Nigerian constitution.
According to the motion entitled, “The Need to Create Additional State Constituencies in Akwa Ibom State,” the sponsor of the motion, Asuquo Udo, earlier noted that the State was long overdue for additional State Constituencies to ensure political advancement.
