Ibesikpo Asutan Council Boss Commends Former Governor

… Reiterates Commitment To Arise Agenda

The executive Chairman of Ibesikpo  Asutan Local Government Area, Hon (Mrs)  Akon Michael Asukwo  has commended the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr  Udom Emmanuel  for infrastructural development in Ibesikpo  Asutan Local Government Area  especially the Ring Road 3, 21- storey smart building and the International Worship Center during his tenure.

The council boss who made the commendation at her country home , Ikot Ebre last week, when selected  state based Newspaper Publishers visited  to ascertain her level of  compliance with the directive of the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for Local Government Chairmen in Akwa Ibom State to reside in their respective area councils.                 

” I commend the former governor , Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel  for constructing roads in Ibesikpo Asutan,  from the Ring road to the International Worship Center and the 21-storey building, among others”.            

 Mrs Michael, while re-affirming her commitment and support to the Arise Agenda of the present administration, thanked Pastor Umo Eno  for the directive to council Chairmen to reside in their council areas, hinted that, residing with her people has given them a sense of belonging and bring her closer to daily happenings in the Local Government  Area.            

 “Personally,  I am living here in the village,  because since I was a teacher,  I’ve always been here.                                       Suddenly and very unprepared,  I became the chairman of the Local Government Area,  and I started thinking of how I’ll relocate to Uyo since there was no prior preparations for that, and I couldn’t.

 Each time we go to price a house,  it was indeed very expensive, so I decided that we should just stay here in the village  and avoid the headache that comes with looking for money to pay house rent “.

 “The magic is that I have chosen to live in the village with my people. So, I have their support, and there’s a free flow of communication between myself, the youths, and the elders. I don’t fail to meet them from time to time, and they’ve been very cooperative “.

 While applauding Pastor Umo Eno for his achievements in the last 3 months, she  however,  called on public-spirited individuals, entrepreneurs, co-operate bodies and the state government to come and invest in the area for the good of her people.

She also appreciated the stakeholders and the youths for their support and cooperative to her leadership and for voting for the PDP candidates in the just concluded elections.  

The Council Boss highlighted her achievements to include,  sustaining  peace in the area through  interactions  with the Youths, Stakeholders and the Councilors, payment of furniture allowance to the Councilors, renovation of  Health center at Nung Udoe , a new 8000KVA generator for the council, built and commissioned  market   at Ikot Ebre, supervised the speed bumps and monthly prayer meeting with the Women among other lofty projects .        

“Let me use this medium and applaud our Councilors for their cooperation, they have really helped and supported me in the work that I have successfully done”. 

  “I have paid all the councilors furniture allowance”.                    

She also announced that the council’s legislative week to lunch and publish the council’s bye laws is underway.

“By God’s grace, we will, in a few weeks, have the legislative week to lunch and publish the Local Government bylaws for the first time since the creation of Ibesikpo Asutan, preparation is already ongoing “.

Mrs Asukwo  while praying for opportunities to impact positively on the people,  informed the team that,  her major  challenge is how to bring cottage  industries to create employment opportunities for the youths of the area.
