NAWOJ Commends Pastor Patience Eno

Ladi Bala, President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has commended the first lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, for her passion for service and giving attention to issues that concern  women, children, youths and the elderly.

NAWOJ President, who said Akwa Ibom State is blessed with good leaders, disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the first lady in her office at Government House, Uyo, on Tuesday.

Bala, who was in Akwa Ibom State to flag off a training programme organized by the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in collaboration with Norwegian Union Of Journalists (NORSK JOURNALISTLAG) on Gender Equity and Safety/Gender Sensitivity Reporting for Women Journalists in Akwa Ibom State, expressed satisfaction with the leadership strides of Pastor Patience Eno within few months in office.

Bala also commended the governor’s wife for the support she is giving to her husband, Gov Umo Eno, which she said is contributing to the success of his government.

“I am so happy with what God has used you to do in Akwa Ibom State  within your few months on the saddle. Thank you for giving priority to issues concerning women, children and the elderly”.

NAWOJ President also highlighted her achievements in the last 3 years to include an office apartment for the National Secretariat, acquisition of land in Abuja for NAWOJ permanent secretariat, training and re-training of members within the country and partnering with donor agencies for capacity building.

While reaffirming the readiness of NAWOJ to give visibility to the first lady’s activities, she appealed for synergy between the state chapter of NAWOJ and the Office of the Governor’s Wife.

Also speaking, the state Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Nsikak Okon, appreciated Pastor Patience Umo Eno for the audience and thanked her for supporting her husband to unify the state and provide infrastructural development across the 31 local governments Areas of the state.

Comrade Okon also lauded Akwa Ibom First Lady for the numerous services to humanity, particularly in off setting hospital bills for the less privileged and giving empowerment packs to pregnant women, multiple birth mothers, among others.

Present at the courtesy  were the National Secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Helen Udofa, the immediate past Chairperson of NAWOJ in Akwa Ibom, Mrs Uduak Ekong, who is also the Press Secretary to the Governor’s wife, the Pioneer Scretary of NAWOJ in Akwa Ibom, Mrs Blessing Urua and the State Vice Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Udeme Hosea.
