Ekperikpe Intervenes in Health Sector : Settle Medical Bills of UUTH Patients

Christmas began early for many at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo (UUTH) on Tuesday, as Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo in his benevolence helped to offset the medical bills of patients who were fully recovered and ready to go home but hamstrung by unpaid bills.

The Honourable Minister Of State for Petroleum, in charge of Gas Resources, made the intervention during the commissioning ceremony of the UUTH Accident and Emergency Unit in Uyo on December 12, 2023.

In his official remarks, he commended the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), for a job well done in funding the project and for its timely completion despite challenges.

The Chief Medical Director of UUTH (CMD), Prof. Emem Bassey, who was obviously elated for the successful completion of the project under his watch, thanked the Honourable Minister and the NLNG for coming to the aid of the hospital. He promised to put the fully equipped facility to good use.

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, thanked the federal government and the NLNG for the thoughtfulness of the project. Officially represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the governor took time out to acknowledge the immense contributions of Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo to better the lot of Akwa Ibom people since he became a Minister. And encouraged him to do more.
