The atmosphere was infused with boundless joy for the youths of Oruk Anam LGA as the Oruk Anam Chapter of Focus International – a frontline pro-government, Not-for-Profit organization, held its monthly “hand-shake” fiesta on Sunday to mark their unfaltering solidarity over the years.

The group, dedicated to expanding the frontiers of development and promoting good governance, has played a crucial role in fostering progress and ensuring the effective functioning of society by creating a conduit through which youth inclusivity is upheld, antisocial behavior is eschewed, and youth reorientation is sustained, for self-dependency.

Obong (Dr.) Prince Ikim

Reiterating its essence, the group’s International Grandmaster, Obong (Dr.) Prince Ikim  emphasized that Focus, as a pro-government body, is solely dedicated to supporting the government of Pastor Umo Eno, who has spearheaded good governance initiatives not just for Akwa Ibom, but Oruk Anam.

Ikim, on that note, donated funds ranging from 30,000 to 500,000 to individual members of the group. The said funds, it was learned, is consistently and statutorily paid to members on a monthly basis for their personal development. The goal, according to Ikim, is to ensure that at the end of each year, members can point to, at least, a life-enhancing project for self-dependency.

The orientation and watchword of Focus International are to see all members and youths become responsible members of society, advocating the eradication of antisocial vices, electoral thuggery, truancy, and delinquency.

It was inspiring to see organizations like Focus International emerge in a time when the youths were almost led astray, making a real impact by reaching out to those who are or may not have been directly touched by government initiatives.

Earlier on, the groups International Chairman , Mr. Ekong Ama, earmarked members to adhere to the principles of truth, transparency,  integrity and level-headedness which are the core values of the group, while its Secretary, Mr. Ukeme Alexander mentioned that the emergence of Focus is coming at a time the youths needed it mostly, describing the group as unmoved and unmatched which has pitched itself as unrivalled in the whole of Oruk Anam,

As one of the key focuses of a pro-government organization, the group has remained committed to development and support of the  good governance of the government of the day; it is identifying areas for improvement and to support the design and implementation of government policies and programs that address pressing societal challenges facing the society.

The energy and joy surrounding the recent handshake event must have been truly uplifting for everyone involved.

In a nutshell, Focus International is doing some great work in human capital development and supporting good governance in the community. The fact that they are engaging with the youths and creating a positive environment is truly commendable.

Building bridges between government and the people is crucial for overall development and progress.
