AKIRS Unveils Tax Education On Radio

In it’s bid to expand its communication network in creating awareness and enlightening Akwa Ibom people on tax education, the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service has unveiled tax education programme on radio titled ” Tax Talk Time “.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony yesterday at the Revenue house, Udo -Udoma Avenue, the board Chairman, Mr Okon Okon hinted that, the multi-strategic sensitization campaigns is aimed to deepen tax culture and enhance voluntary compliance among taxpayers in the State.

“The radio programme will expand the Service’s channels of communication; provide opportunity for instant feedback from the public through a phone-in provided for in the live discussion segment of the programme”.
The Chairman further added that, his plans for the Akwa Ibom Public’s is to deepen tax awareness, improve records and tackle challenges, urged the public to take advantage of the sensitization programme.
” Taxpayers will also have opportunity to learn about the tax ecosystem in the state and the benefits of paying tax”.
He also lauded the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno for implementing policies that are beneficiary to the tax payers and creating a tax friendly environment in the state .
” I thank the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for promoting policies that engender business and tax-friendly environment in the state and providing tangible value for taxpayers’ money through his pro-rural policies and programmes, like the compassionate homes, grace homes, model school projects etc.
Meanwhile, the sensitization campaign with a 30-minutes tax education programme on radio which will begin on thursday September 4th 2024 will be aired on four radio stations as follows,
every thursday on Heritage F.M 11:30-12 p.m, Redemption F.M 12:30-1p.m, Comfort F.M 5:30-6:00 p.m and Ini Nneme Tax on Friday 5:30-6p.m on Tang Sio F.M.
However, according to the producers, the participatory radio programme packed with good content will have discussion segment, jingles and phone in segment to discuss tax issues for instant feedback.
