…Commends His Exemplary  Service

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D, has celebrated the Executive Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS), Sir Okon Okon, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, alongside his wife, Lady Uwem Okon, who turned 55.

The Governor spoke during a Birthday and Family Thanksgiving Service held in their honour at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Dominion Mega Parish, Uyo.

In his remarks, Governor Eno described Sir Okon as a man of honour and respect, whose distinguished service and exemplary career has been outstanding and impactful in the State and beyond.

Governor Eno also acknowledged the critical role played by Lady Uwem Okon, whom he described as a ‘pillar of support and grace,’ noting that her steadfast partnership has been instrumental in Sir Okon’s life journey and accomplishments.

” This evening, we are here to celebrate a man of honour, a man of respect, a man of distinguished service and distinguished career, a man who is committed to what he does, and of course his dear wife”.

Reflecting on Sir Okon’s professional contributions, Governor Eno disclosed that he met Sir Okon as AKIRS Chairman upon assuming office and has been impressed with his performance in boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State .

“I did not appoint Sir Okon Okon, I met him in office. He made my job very easy, and he will continue because he is a straightforward man who is delivering on his mandate. He is boosting internally generated revenue, and as long as our targets are met, I need a man who gives me the resources to execute our projects and Sir Okon Okon is good, very simple man, his yes is yes, his no, is no and I like working with such men, so I like to thank you, happy birthday Sir Okon Okon and your dear wife”, the Governor said.

In his thanksgiving to mark his 60th birthday and 55th birthday of his wife which coincides the same day, the Executive Chairman AKIRS, Sir Okon Okon, expressed gratitude to God for his faithfulness and steadfast love towards them as a family both in career and other accomplishments in life.

Sir Okon, also expressed appreciation to the immediate past Governor of the State Mr. Udom Emmanuel who gave him a platform to serve as Executive Chairman AKIRS, and further expressed gratitude to the incumbent Governor Pastor Umo Eno Ph.D who has encouraged him to continue in office as Executive Chairman.

“We want to give God praise for His faithfulness, for His mercies, for enduring goodness that has engulfed us as a family if not for His compassion we would have been consummed for His mercies endures forever. God has been faithful to us as a family, He has moved from one level to another through the banking career, the public service with the benevolence of the immediate past Governor of the State who gave me the opportunity to serve as Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service, and the incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno Ph.D who has given me the encouragement to continue to serve as the Chairman of AKIRS”.

The event featured song ministration by various choir, praises, exhortation and prayer for the celebrant.

The event drew dignitaries both in public and private sector colleagues, friends who gathered to celebrate the couple’s remarkable contributions to the development of the state and their inspiring personal milestones.
