As Akwa Ibom State marks her 38th anniversary, we are reminded not only of the vision of our founding fathers but also of the progress we have made as a people bound by a common heritage and destiny. From a modest beginning in 1987, Akwa Ibom has risen to become a state admired for her human capital, infrastructural development, and peaceful disposition.

At 38, our story is one of resilience, enterprise, and innovation. But more importantly, our journey reflects the quality of leadership we have been blessed with. Today, I commend His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, for providing the kind of people-oriented governance that strengthens our collective aspirations for prosperity.

Two remarkable initiatives stand out in this regard: the recently held Electricity Summit and the establishment of the Security Trust Fund. Both are emblematic of Governor Umo Eno’s deliberate approach to addressing fundamental issues of development, power and security.

The Electricity Summit was not just another policy talk-shop; it was a bold and pragmatic effort to rally stakeholders, investors, and experts around a clear vision of providing steady, reliable, and affordable power for our people. Power remains the engine of modern economies, and the Governor’s initiative is a clear signal that Akwa Ibom is positioning itself as a hub for industrial growth, job creation, and technological advancement.

Equally strategic is the launch of a safe city, the Security Trust Fund, which strengthens the state’s security architecture. By providing a sustainable mechanism for financing security operations, Governor Eno has ensured that Akwa Ibom remains one of the safest states in Nigeria. Safety of lives and property is the first guarantee of development, and this initiative enhances investors’ confidence while deepening the peace we enjoy.

These strides, alongside other interventions in agriculture, education, and youth empowerment, reflect a leadership that understands the needs of the people and the demands of the times. Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda is not just a manifesto; it is a living document now translating into tangible benefits for our citizens.

As we celebrate 38 years of statehood, I urge all Akwa Ibomites to renew their faith in the future of our state. Let us continue to support the Governor’s vision, work together across divides, and commit ourselves to building a state that will remain a beacon of hope and prosperity for generations to come.
