The Afe Nkuku Annang, Forum of Paramount Rulers in Annang land has declared its solidarity for Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of Senate, amidst the ongoing alleged malicious statements against him by Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio.

In a communiqué issued after a joint meeting of traditional rulers, youth and women groups held today at the Ati Annang Hall, Ikot Ekpene, signed by the President of Afe Nkuku Annang and Paramount Ruler of Essien Udim Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Obong Cosmas Okon Akpan, JP, KSJI. The traditional rulers strongly condemned the vulgar videos and statements attributed to Mrs. Akpabio, describing them as “unbecoming of a member of the Akpabio family and the Annang nation”.

The Afe Nkuku Annang while calling for due process and peaceful resolution, urged Mrs. Akpabio to report her concerns to the relevant authorities rather than resorting to social media taunting and blackmail.
The Traditional Rulers hinted that, Mrs. Patience Akpabio’s actions are clear attempt to malign and assassinate the character of Senator Akpabio.
“We exonerate Senator Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno from the baseless accusations made by Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio and reaffirm our solidarity and support for these esteemed leaders,” the communiqué stated.
The Afe Nkuku Annang also gave Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio and her husband, Barr. Ibanga Akpabio, a 7-day ultimatum to appear before the council to clarify the allegations or face the traditional wrath.

They also warned Mrs. Akpabio and others contemplating similar actions to desist from unwarranted social media attacks against Senator Akpabio and other respected leaders from Annang land.

While reaffirming their support for the Renewed Hope initiative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, the Afe Nkuku Annang announced their readiness to take drastic traditional and moral measures in defense of truth, dignity and the unity of Annang land.
