AKWA IBOM RISING: Governor Eno’s Transformational Initiatives Set to Revolutionize State’s Future

In a significant milestone for Akwa Ibom State, Governor Pastor Umo Eno has flagged off the construction of youth-friendly centres across the state’s 31 Local Government Areas as part of the administration’s ARISE Agenda, focusing on human capital development, innovation, and inclusive growth.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umana, PhD, highlighted the achievements of the Pastor Umo Eno-led administration during the October edition of the State Government’s Press Briefing Series in Uyo on Friday. Notably, night flight operations have resumed at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, following the successful calibration and overhaul of navigational aids and lighting systems.

He hinted of  the Governor’s  approval of a ₦695 billion supplementary budget, bringing the total revised budget size for 2025 to ₦1.65 trillion. To accelerate road construction, ₦60 billion has been released to contractors,  approved the upgrading of the Akwa Ibom State College of Education to a university, now known as the Akwa Ibom State University of Education, Afaha Nsit.

Additionally, the Information Boss said plans are underway to establish the Ibom Creative Village, an incubation hub for youthful talents across various creative industries.

Umana further added that the administration has demonstrated its commitment to healthcare through the upward review of allowances for health workers and the recruitment of 2,000 health workers.

He announced that,  the Akwa Ibom State Agricultural Development Programme (AKADEP) has been overhauled and transformed into a stand-alone agency to manage the Tree Crop Revolution as the administration is committed to delivering impactful governance and transforming the lives of Akwa Ibom people.
