Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reiterated his administration commitment to invest in the waste management sector of turning waste into wealth for improve efficiency of waste disposal and environmental stability.

Governor Eno, who said the state is known for cleanliness, made this known on Wednesday during the unveiling of the newly acquired waste management equipments by the state government to the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA) for effective service delivery.

Governor Eno , however urged local government council chairmen to work with the agency in keeping the state clean, announced the relocation of the Uyo Village Road dump-site to a befitting location, said contract has been awarded for the construction of the road with flyover .
“I want to urge the Chairmen of local government to collaborate closely with the agency in ensuring the delivery of their services”.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, Dr Prince Akpan Ikim, appreciated Pastor Umo Eno for investing massively in the sector, promised quality service delivery.

“I want to thank the Governor for providing these equipments as there will be no room for excuses or challenges because we will hit the ground running”.
Ikim, while pouring encomium on the Governor for his pragmatic leadership style especially the significant footprint of compacting trucks, four swing-arm trucks, one roll-off truck, and 50 units of 6,000-liter dumpsters to the agency, described him as environment friendly governor, pointed out that, the newly acquired waste equipments will go along way in tackling waste management problems.

“When we came into the office, two things were handed over to us, (dump site) Uyo village road and a compactor that wasn’t moving”.
Welcoming the Governor to the host community of AKSEPWMA, the executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Hon Ubong Nkut thanked Pastor Umo Eno for flagging off road projects in Nung Ukot Itam and Ikot Ekwere Itam respectively, pledged Itu people’s support for the Arise Agenda.
