Restoring Sanity At Ibom Plaza

By Udeme Hosea

In a bid to maintain order and prevent the resurgence of chaotic trading activities, the Akwa Ibom State Government, through the Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), led by Rt Hon.  Anietie Eka has deployed a joint task force of security personnel to Ibom Plaza.

Rt Hon Anietie Eka

A morning investigation by Skynet at the plaza a few hours ago revealed a calm atmosphere, with security operatives visibly present in the area. Notably, there was no street trading at the plaza as of this morning.

Passersby who spoke with our reporter commended the UCCDA Chairman, Rt Hon Anietie Eka, for his innovative approach in restoring the plaza to its lost glory and effectively curbing street trading.

Joint Task Force

The joint task force, as seen this morning, is expected to ensure the area remains peaceful and orderly, paving the way for further development in and around the plaza.

Interacting with some residents on the latest development at Ibom Plaza, they praised the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for instituting proactive measures aimed at maintaining ease of movement and enhancing security at the plaza, which was previously a chaotic terrain plagued by miscreants.

According to the Chairman of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Rt Hon Anietie Eka, on the ongoing restructuring at Ibom Plaza, he hinted that Ibom Plaza is the center of the state capital that ushers people to various local government areas of the state and should be clean.

“Ibom Plaza is the city center and should reflect the aesthetic value and orderliness it deserves,” said Eka.
