The Regional Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Akwa Ibom Region 14, Pastor Idris Umar, has offered a fatherly prayer of blessings, and protection for members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council as they continue in their job  of informing, educating and entertaining the public.

The prayer was offered yesterday at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, Abundance Mega Parish, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo during a thanksgiving service to mark the first 100 days of the new leadership.

Pastor Idris Umar recognized the dangers and difficulties that come with journalism, from reporting in conflict zones to covering sensitive social issues, prayed fervently for God’s  protection upon the journalists as they dedicate themselves to serving humanity.

In a sermon themed “The Flourishing Christian,” Pastor Victor Henry advised believers to live impactful lives, likening a flourishing Christian to a palm tree that produces fruit and brings joy and blessings to others.

“The palm tree is a symbol of fruitfulness and prosperity. Just as the palm tree produces fruit, we as Christians are expected to bear fruit in our lives, bringing joy and blessings to those around us,” he said.

Setting the tone, Comrade Helen Udofa, Chairman of the  Planning Committee, expressed gratitude to God for His love, protection, and the success story  of Akwa Ibom NAWOJ in the past 100 days.

“We thank God for the tireless efforts of our chairman and members in advancing NAWOJ’s vision and programmes. We are grateful for God’s grace in preserving the lives of women journalists in the state,” she said.

Acknowledging the benevolence of God, Comrade Nsikak Okon, Chairperson of Akwa Ibom state NAWOJ, expressed gratitude to God for protecting women journalists in difficult terrain ,  prayed for God’s continuous blessings for NAWOJ, NUJ, and its members in the state, Zone F, and the country at large.

The thanksgiving service was attended by dignitaries  in the south south region  including, Dr. Lilian Okonwo Ogabu, National Deputy President of NAWOJ, Mrs. Stella Macaulay, Vice President South-South Zone “F”, Comrade Sonia Unobunjo, Chairperson, Delta State NAWOJ, Comrade Precious Awakwo Ovie, NAWOJ Secretary, Rivers State, Comrade Uduak Ekong Ekong, Press Secretary, Office of the Akwa Ibom State First Lady designate and members  of Akwa Ibom  NAWOJ .
