…AS PPMC CHAIRMAN APPEALS FOR END TO STRIKE

In a significant development, the 2 Brigade Nigerian Army at the Brigade Headquarters in Akwa Ibom State has released a petroleum tanker truck seized by them in April 2025.

The Chairman of the Petroleum Products Monitoring Committee (PPMC), Hon. Godwin Ekpo, who was at 2 Brigade Headquarters, Mbiokporo Military Cantonment, Nsit-Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State along with some Committee members earlier today to receive the seized petroleum tanker,  commended the Commander of the 2 Brigade for keeping to his promise and releasing the seized tanker.

 Hon. Ekpo thanked Brigadier General Alexander Tawasimi, Commander of the 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Mbiokporo, for his responsiveness and also commended the State Director of the State Security Services, Dr Adedoyin Adetuberu for his sustained mediatory roles and intervention in the matter and  called for continuous robust relationship with the PPMC.

The PPMC Chairman also appealed to the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) Association to call off their ongoing strike and engage in dialogue to resolve the crisis.

The appeal was made in the presence of PTD leaders, including Mr. Joseph Otu, Chairman of the PTD Akwa Ibom State, and Pastor George Udoh, Zonal Deputy Chairman. Noting that, his engagement with the PTD aims to find a lasting solution to the crisis that has disrupted petroleum distribution in the state.

The Chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD)  association , Akwa Ibom State , Mr. Joseph Otu, expressed appreciation to Brigadier General Alexander Tawasimi,  for releasing the seized tanker,  saying, the release  will bring  renewed hope for the association .

The highpoint of the visit was the official handover of the seized petroleum tanker by Brigadier General Alexander Tawasimi, who was represented by Capt AM Bala, to Hon. Godwin Ekpo, who in turn handed it over to Mr. Joseph Otu, Chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) Association, in the presence of other PPMC members.
