Little Light Women and Children Initiative Takes Menstrual Hygiene Campaign To Anua Offot

A non-governmental organisation, Little Light Women and Children Initiative, on Friday took its menstrual health awareness campaign to Comprehensive Secondary School, Anua Offot, Uyo, on period education and hygiene management.

Members of Little Light Women and Children Initiative were accompanied by a Special Guest from the Gender Unit of the Correctional Center, ASC Edidiong Abraham.

Students were taught how to understand their menstrual cycle, calculate their dates, maintain proper hygiene, and were shown a live demonstration on the correct use of sanitary pads.

The outreach which was organised to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, marked on May 29 featured group questions and private one-on-one counselling for girls who needed a confidential space to speak.

Highpoint of the visit were the distribution of sanitary pads to the students and handed an emergency supply to teachers to ensures girls caught off guard during school hours have immediate support without panic.
Little Light Women and Children Initiative team members at the event were Esther Isaac, Talent Omeke, Precious Ottah and Oto-obong Isaac.
