…Assures Of  AKSEPWMA’s Readiness To Enforce Govt Directives

Chairman,  Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), Dr Prince Ikim has applauded the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno for his commitment in the environmental  sub sector of the state and leading in de-silting of gutters during  the August edition of the state monthly sanitation last Saturday.

Ikim,  who expressed satisfaction with Pastor Umo Eno’s disposition in tackling the state environmental challenges especially de-silting of drains at Atiku Abubakar Way, floating a sanitation pilot programme in Ewet Housing Estate, extensive vegetation control and timely waste evacuation, made this know in an interaction with newsmen at Ibom plaza on Saturday, shortly after  de-silting  drains along Eket – Oron Road, Park Road and Grace Bill Road, Eket, where Governor Umo Eno flagged off the exercise.

While scoring the Governor high on his policies since assumption of office, he assured of AKSEPWMA’s readiness to enforce laws guiding the agency and mobilize law enforcement officers to bring sanitation defaulting resident’s to book.

Speaking earlier at Eket, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno harped on citizens participation in environmental sanitation and de-silting of drains, as free flow drainage will serve the state from the flood predictions of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).

Pastor Eno also commended community leaders, business owners and residents of the state for complying with the state government directive on monthly sanitation exercise, which the state has been adjudged the cleanest state in Nigeria.

He  also  acknowledged the cooperation of Eket Local Government Council  with the Akwa  Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency  (AKSEPWMA),  in  achieving  the success recorded in the August environmental sanitation exercise.
