The men have been separated from the boys in the ongoing Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Cup as the tournament enters it’s semi final stage.

Uyo Local Government continued their scintillating run in the competition as they came out 2-0 winners against hard fighting Ibiono Ibom in their quarter final meeting on Wednesday.

The capital city side will now square off against Urue-Ofong Oruko, who won their last 8 duel against Ibeno on penalties after a pulsating goalless draw.

High flying Essien Udim halted regional rivals Obot Akara, securing a 2-1 win against the Daniel Japheth-tutored side thereby setting up a meeting against Ikot Abasi, who defeated Onna in the ESD derby.

It has been lots of excitement in the Governor’s Cup as Governor Umo Eno has brought back football to Akwa Ibom even as the tournament reaches the home stretch.
