The Federal Lawmaker representing Itu-Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ime Bassey Okon leads stakeholders in the federal constituency as they unanimously give support to the second term ambition of Pastor Umo Eno as Governor of Akwa Ibom State come 2027.
This was the stand of the people of Itu-Ibiono Ibom federal constituency yesterday, Thursday, May 8, 2025, during the town-square meeting and empowerment programme organised by HE Pastor Umo Eno.
“His Excellency, because you have done well, we want you to continue in office up to 2031. No other person will indicate interest in that office, and I want to assure you that Itu and Ibiono Ibom people are in support of you. Because of this, I will respectfully formalise the position of the federal constituency by inviting my brother, the Member representing Itu State constituency and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem to move a formal motion returning you to office in 2027.”
The motion was formally moved by Member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Hon. Moses Essien and seconded by Hon. Idongesit Ituen.
Meanwhile, the Executive Governor was notably recognised for his outstanding contribution in the areas of road infrastructure, health, and education in the federal constituency. The federal lawmaker, who was accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Victoria Ime Bassey, acknowledged the leadership style of the Governor, which unifies Akwa Ibom people regardless of political party and the sustenance of peace, which is cardinal for progress and development.
Also, Barr. Okon made a request for the empowerment of key pillars in Itu-Ibiono Ibom federal constituency to enable and foster community development and support.

“Please, Your Excellency, as a son of the area, there is a need to raise a few key pillars in the federal constituency so that we have as a people where to fall back to in our quest to develop our community and people.”
In his speech, the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom LGA, HRM Okuku Ime Udousoro Inyang, appreciated the Governor for opening the road network in Ibiono Ibom and Itu which affects interiors like Ikpanya and Use Ikot Amama communities with the recent flag-off of the 10.9km Nsai Use–Use Ikot Amama–Ibiaku Ikot Esifa–Iton Mmong–Nkwot Edem Edet Road.
However, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prince Enobong Uwah, while setting the tone for the event, noted that the town-square meeting and empowerment programme organised by the Governor across federal constituencies in the State is in fulfilment of one of his campaign promises. He highlighted that about 32 projects handled by the State Government are ongoing in the federal constituency while two are yet to be commenced.
For the 677 beneficiaries of the first tranche of empowerment in the area, Chief Assam Assam, SAN, charged that they take advantage of the opportunity and utilize it for their respective self-development and endeavour.
The high point of the event was the presentation of the Need Assessment document of the area by stakeholders to the Governor, the presentation of cheques to grant beneficiaries, and the tendering of the scorecard of achievements by the Governor in the area for the past two years.
