As part of her commitment to sustainable youth development, the Executive Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Otobong Aaron promised to empower the 11 DASAC trainees from the LG.
She gave the assurances at matriculation ceremony of the youths which took place at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC).
The Council Boss revealed the youths selected from the 11 wards in the LG are currently undergoing training at the cost of ₦1 million per trainee. She added that they will also be empowered to startup their businesss upon completion.
Warmly received by the Institution’s Rector, Prof. Uwemedimon Usoro, Hon. Otobong Aaron commended Prof. Usoro for the quality of work being done at the centre, particularly in the training of young Akwa Ibomites, and urged him to sustain the standards.
The Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre is an initiative of the Akwa Ibom State Government, designed to deliver demand-driven technical training, leadership development, and entrepreneurial capacity building for the state’s youths.
Addressing the trainees, Hon. Aaron praised the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, for his visionary investments in human capital development. She urged the trainees to remain focused and be committed to acquiring sustainable skills, describing skills acquisition as “a guaranteed pathway to financial independence and long-term self-worth.”
“In today’s world, skills are not optional; they are essential,” she stated. “They open doors, create jobs, and empower individuals to take control of their futures.”
To further support their learning journey, the Chairman announced that the Local Government will begin the payment of monthly stipends to Nsit Ibom trainees at DASAC. She also assured them of empowerment packages upon successful completion of the six-month program.
