The Little Light Women and Children Initiative has called on Nigerian youths to improve themselves by building resilience and strengthening communication and networking, stressing that personal development is key to national progress.

The call was made on Tuesday, 12/08/2026 during the 2026 International Youth Day commemoration in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
The one-day conference brought young people together for experience sharing and honest conversations on turning aspirations into action despite different challenges.
During a SWOT Board Session anchored by Dr. Munachiso Odulana, participants especially youths reflected on their aspirations, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats safe spaces ended with practical action plans.

The key takeaways in the conference included the capacity of young people to multitask, their shared aspirations despite barriers, and their civic duty to participate in elections and shun apathy.
Others who spoke advised the youths to avoid cybercrime and other digital vices and to take advantage of available opportunities to better their lives.

The Initiative also reaffirmed its commitment to empower young people to become skilled, responsible and active contributors to national development.
