Nsit Ubium State Constituency Briefing:Constituents Agog As Bob Doles Out Cars, Business Grants,Tools To 154

The Nsit Ubium Local Government Secretariat, Ikot Edibon, Akwa Ibom State was agog on Friday, October 9, 2026, as the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency and Majority Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob (PhD), hosted his Constituency Briefing and Mega Empowerment Programme.

The event, which drew the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno, Speaker, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, members of the House of Representatives, political class and constituents, witnessed the distribution of livelihood assets and cash support to 154 beneficiaries across wards in the constituency.

The empowerment inventory showed a broad spread targeting transport, vocational and agricultural livelihoods. Items distributed included 8 saloon cars, 11 minibuses, 20 tricycles, 45 motorcycles, 30 sewing machines, 6 electric sewing machines, 30 vulcanising machines, 30 grinding machines, 40 generating sets with complete barbing kits, 40 standing hair dryers with washing basins, 6 stand and welding machines, 11 grass cutting machines, 30 knapsack sprayers, 15 deep freezers, 12 laptops and 15 generating sets.

Also, over N60 million business grants was also disbursed to youths, women, elders, students and ward coordinators aimed at driving self-reliance and strengthening small businesses at the grassroots.

Governor Umo Eno, while commending Barr Bob for contributing to stability in the Assembly, described the briefing as a model of accountable representation and announced a proposed N1 million per ward intervention.

He also endorsed Rt Hon Otobong Bob for a third term in 2027. “Otobong will go for a third term and I will go for a second term. We are developing Nsit Ubium Local Government Area and we will continue to do so,” the governor said.
Also, Speaker Udeme Otong attributed the series of constituency briefings, now undertaken by about 18 lawmakers, to the harmonious working relationship between the Executive and Legislature under Governor Eno. He described Bob as one of the most productive lawmakers, citing his bills and motions and urged beneficiaries to put the items to judicious use.

Presenting his seven-year stewardship report from 2019 to date, Bob said he moved 9 motions, privately sponsored 8 bills, co-sponsored 78 others and mobilised support for 18 executive bills. He listed advocacy for the State Central Revenue Account, State Security Trust Fund and Office of the Public Defender among his legislative highlights.

He also reported interventions outside the chambers including a 3-day medical outreach that covered 4,796 persons, bursaries for over 200 tertiary students, grants to farmers’ multipurpose cooperatives and facilitation of projects under the ARISE Agenda such as the Ibom Model Farm with 7.5km internal roads, dualisation of 11.6km Ikot Imo-Ikot Ekpene Udo-Eket Road, 2.48km road with 120m bridge and 14.28km Nsit Ubium-Udo-Odoro Road.
